Player apps

Which IPTV app should you install?

Your subscription supplies the streams; the app is the player that organises them. These are the four we recommend most.

Android TV & Fire TV

TiviMate

Widely considered the best-looking IPTV player on Android-based systems: excellent EPG, favourites and multi-playlist support. Premium unlocks the full feature set.

Fire TV, Smart TVs, phones

IPTV Smarters

The all-rounder — simple Xtream-style login, runs on almost everything including Samsung/LG stores, phones and desktops.

Samsung & LG Smart TVs

IBO Player / IBO Player Pro

A polished Smart-TV player with M3U playlist support. Requires a small one-off activation on the developer's site after a trial period.

Android TV & Fire TV

XCIPTV

Feature-rich alternative with a friendly interface, built-in player options and solid EPG handling.

The universal setup workflow

Whatever the device, IPTV setup follows the same five steps. The device guides add screen-by-screen detail:

  1. Get your credentials. After ordering (or starting the 24-hour trial) you'll receive an email with your login: a server URL, username and password — and usually an M3U playlist link and EPG URL as well.
  2. Install the app recommended for your device (see the app table above).
  3. Sign in. Choose "Login with Xtream Codes API" (or "Add playlist") and enter the details from your email exactly as written — they're case-sensitive.
  4. Let the app load. The first import pulls in the channel list, the on-demand library and the programme guide — on UKIPTVGo that's 55,000+ channels, so allow a few minutes on the first run.
  5. Organise your favourites and set the EPG to refresh automatically, so tomorrow's listings are always there.

Credentials, playlists and portals

There are three common ways an app connects to a service, and your UKIPTVGo email covers the first two:

  • Xtream-style login (recommended): server URL + username + password. Simplest and enables full EPG and VOD.
  • M3U playlist URL: a single link apps download the channel list from; pair it with the separate EPG URL.
  • MAC/portal: used by MAG boxes and STB emulators rather than typical UK setups.

Keep your credentials private — they're tied to your simultaneous-device limit. Never paste them into public forums when asking for help.

Setting up the EPG (electronic programme guide)

The EPG is the familiar TV guide grid of what's on now and next. With an Xtream-style login, most apps fetch it automatically after sign-in. With an M3U playlist, add the EPG URL from your welcome email under the app's EPG settings.

If the guide looks empty, give the app time for its first download, then use "Refresh EPG" in settings. Some channels simply carry less guide data than others — that comes from the source, not your device.

Network and performance basics

Streaming quality depends on three things: your service, your device and your connection. You control two of them:

  • Aim for roughly 15–25 Mbps of stable bandwidth per HD stream — more for 4K where available.
  • Prefer Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi‑Fi over 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi, which suffers more interference.
  • Restart your router occasionally; a stale connection causes more buffering than raw speed does.
  • Test speed on the device itself (a browser test on your TV or stick), not just on your phone.

Troubleshooting the common problems

Nine times out of ten, IPTV problems trace back to a short list of causes:

  • Buffering or freezing: work through the buffering fix checklist.
  • Login rejected: re-copy credentials exactly, check for trailing spaces, and confirm your subscription (or trial) is active.
  • App won't load the playlist: force-close and reopen, clear the app cache, or remove and re-add the playlist.
  • EPG missing: refresh EPG data and confirm the EPG URL is entered (see above).
  • Only some devices struggle: that points to local Wi‑Fi or device performance, not the service.

Still stuck? Contact support with your device and app, and we'll walk through it with you.

VPN: technical notes

A VPN isn't required for IPTV to work. If you choose to use one, install it on the streaming device itself (or router) rather than only on your phone, pick a server geographically close to you for the best speeds, and avoid free VPNs — they typically cap bandwidth and can cause the buffering you're trying to avoid. General privacy considerations are covered in the UK IPTV guide.

Setup FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most during setup.

Which IPTV app should I install?
On Android TV and Fire TV, TiviMate and IPTV Smarters are the most popular choices. Samsung and LG TVs use store apps such as IBO Player or IPTV Smarters. On iPhone and Apple TV, apps like IPTV Smarters or similar players work well. Each device guide on this page recommends a specific app.
What login details do I need?
Most services — including UKIPTVGo — provide Xtream-style credentials (a server URL, username and password) or an M3U playlist link, plus an EPG URL. Your app guide shows exactly where each one goes.
Why is my EPG empty or missing programme data?
Usual causes: the EPG URL wasn't entered, the app hasn't refreshed data yet, or the source doesn't provide EPG for that channel. Give the app a few minutes to download guide data, then force a refresh in settings.
My streams keep buffering — where do I start?
Work through our step-by-step buffering guide: test your speed at the device, move to 5 GHz Wi‑Fi or Ethernet, restart your router, then check the app's player settings.

The short version

Get your login by email, install the recommended app for your device, sign in, and let the channel list and EPG load. Most setups take around 10 minutes — and if anything misbehaves, the buffering guide and our support team have you covered.
